This document applies to those involved in specifying the general environmental requirements for signaling equipment need to use this specification, but it is not exhaustive. It shall be used when specifying general environmental requirements.

Note: Where necessary, the Particular Specifications for equipment and systems shall state any additional requirements, such as resistance to contaminants (including oil, weedkiller and acids), ultraviolet stability and mould growth.

Note: This document does not define fire safety requirements.

Purpose

This document stipulates the minimum environmental performance requirements for materials and equipment used for signalling, communications and associated control systems, at all locations within the London Underground (LU) system.
