Maintenance of Signalling Equipment Rooms

active, Most Current
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 November 2020
Status: active
Page Count: 8
scope:

This guidance applies to rooms containing signalling equipment with the exceptions defined in the notes below. This guidance should be used by Asset Stewards when devising maintenance regimes for SERs.

Note: The rooms applicable include interlocking machine rooms, air-worked signal cabins, power rooms, relay rooms, floodgate rooms, train describer rooms, and also to the signalling equipment contained in manual signal cabins, shunter's cabins, depot control towers, and other local manned signalling rooms, but not to the structure of the rooms or other facilities and services in these rooms.

Note: This guidance does not apply to central control rooms or to signalling equipment kiosks situated on platforms, which are covered in G0199E and G199R respectively.

Purpose

This document provides the guidance for the minimum maintenance requirements for Signal Equipment Rooms (SERs), defined as equipment rooms containing equipment, cable terminations and power supplies associated with London Underground (LU) signalling and signal control systems.

It is not normally intended to define methods of maintenance, but where the guidance does so, it is for reasons and the asset maintainer should adhere to those methods.

Note: This guidance supplements S1199 'Signalling and Signalling Control - Operation and Maintenance'
