Organization: NR
Publication Date: 9 January 2021
Status: active
Page Count: 6
scope:

This procedure sets out the requirements for working signalling locations in an emergency situation where an individual does not currently hold location specific signalling competency.

This procedure provides additional options to signalling operations when attempting to keep a signalling location staffed and operational when the national rostering principles have been exhausted.

This procedure applies to all signaling locations Grade 4 and below including level crossing locations where there is a lack of location-specific competent staff available to carry out signalling operations.

The procedure describes the requirements for assessing the suitability of an individual prior to assigning them to work a signalling location in an emergency.

This procedure applies to all signalling staff who hold signalling competency to rules and regulations level 2 or higher.

Purpose

This procedure defines the operational requirements for emergency cover of signalling locations. This process mitigates the risk of closing signalling locations which may have an adverse effect on train performance.
