Purpose.

To promote sharing of health care and other resources and define management responsibilities and procedures for administering support agreements. Enclosure (1) contains the list of references. Enclosures (2) through (10) provide amplifying information. Consistent with references (a) and (b), Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) encourages the development of support agreements to improve effectiveness and economy of operations by eliminating duplicate support services without jeopardizing mission accomplishment. This is a complete revision and must be read in its entirety. The examples below will be referred to throughout this instruction as support agreements:
