scope:

This specification details the manufacturing requirements of the 3-core and 5-core screened cables used in making connections between items of safety signal equipment mounted in lineside locations. This specification should be used by all those when engaged in the procurement and manufacture of these type of cables.

Purpose

3-core and 5-core screened cables are used to make connections between two Trackside Termination Boxes (TTBs). It is usually the case that the two TTBs will be mounted on opposite sides of the track and the screened cable will therefore be required to pass underneath the running and current rails.
