This Specification applies to the movement of steam locomotives whether in full or light steam over Railtrack controlled infrastructure. It does not apply when steam locomotives are hauled dead. For other types of Special Trains refer to RT/D/P/054 'Operation of Special Trains'.
Purpose
This Specification is designed to enable Railtrack Zones to control the risks arising from steam operation on Railtrack controlled infrastructure to as low as reasonably practicable.
