This procedure shall apply when a signal has been passed at danger without authority (Category A) on Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure, or where a signal passed at danger could lead to an unauthorised movement entering onto Network Rail's Controlled Infrastructure. The procedure sets out the immediate actions required in dealing with a Category A SPAD, gathering evidence following a Category A SPAD, the investigation, and subsequent management of Category A SPAD issues within Network Rail and in conjunction with Train Operators.
Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is, in accordance with Railway Group Standard GO/RT3252, to provide a consistent, comprehensive and structured process, for the immediate actions required in dealing with a Category A SPAD, gathering evidence following a Category A SPAD, the investigation, and subsequent management of Category A SPAD issues within Network Rail and in conjunction with Train Operators.
