scope:

This procedure applies to:

1. the communications engineering content of all schemes proposed to be implemented by, or on behalf of, any Railtrack Directorate

2. proposals for temporary works associated with such schemes

3. all components and systems proposed to be used in or affecting Operational Communications Engineering installations and equipment.

These procedures do not apply to:

1. normal day to day maintenance work

2. feasibility studies and other preliminary designs

3. work carried out under emergency conditions

4. assessments of existing installations and equipment

Purpose

To define procedures for the application of Railway Group Standards GC/RT5101 Technical Approval requirements for Changes to the Infrastructure and GK/RT0104 Policy for Approval of Signalling Equipment for Railtrack's Communication Engineering activities.
