This specification applies to those engaged in the design and manufacture of 'pigtail' cables for connections and bonds to running rails.

Note: This specification covers the following types of 'pigtail' cables:

1. Type A for use in surface locations

2. Type B for use in underground or tunnel locations

3. Type C for use in 25KV immunised areas

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to specify the design and construction of 'pigtail' cables that are used to make electrical connections to the running rails for signalling purposes.

Note: The insulation layer, although giving a degree of electrical protection, is primarily to resist corrosion to the conductor.
