ANSI - X9.82-1

Random Number Generation Part 1: Overview and Basic Principles

active, Most Current
Organization: ANSI
Publication Date: 12 September 2023
Status: active
Page Count: 43
scope:

This Standard defines techniques for the generation of random bits that shall be used whenever ASC X9 Standards require the use of a random number or random bitstring for cryptographic purposes. The Standard consists of four parts:

• Part 1: Overview and Basic Principles

• Part 2: Random Number Generation: Entropy Sources

• Part 3: Random Number Generation: Deterministic Random Bit Generator Mechanisms

• Part 4: Random Number Generation: Random Bit Generator Construction

This Standard does not address random key-stream generation for a stream cipher, as this would be done in a Standard specifying a stream-cipher algorithm.
