DNV-RP-C201

Buckling strength of plated structures

active, Most Current
Publication Date: 1 September 2023
Status: active
Page Count: 104
scope:

This document describes two approaches (previously referred to as part 1 and part 2) that may be used to assess the buckling and ultimate strength capacity of steel plate structures. For further descriptions of relevant limit states, see DNV-OS-C101.

The first approach, given in Sec.2 to Sec.9 of this RP, represents the more traditional method used to assess the buckling capacity of stiffened and unstiffened panels. This approach was previously referred to as part 1. Recommendations are given for plates, stiffeners, and girders.

The second approach, given in Sec.10, represents a software-based modelling method, referred to as the panel ultimate limit state (PULS) model. This approach was previously referred to as part 2.
