Scope and Applicability.
This instruction applies to BUMED and all subordinate commands.
Purpose.
Per reference (a), to publish the mission, functions and tasks of Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) as established by reference (b), aligned with references (c) through (g), as well as the directives resources listed in enclosure (1). This instruction is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety. The changes in subparagraphs 1a and 1b have been implemented.
a. Revised to reflect transition efforts in the Military Health System (MHS).
b. Organized to enhance alignment and grouping of functions and tasks in support of the Department of the Navy (DON) and in coordination with Defense Health Agency (DHA).
