scope:

This instruction applies to all persons engaged in the maintenance of telecoms equipment used by Network Rail, in their telecoms equipment rooms (including telecoms portions of joint S&T equipment rooms) & REBs installed under the FTN / GSM-R project.

The maintenance of TEHs is detailed within NR/L2/TEL 30077 Maintenance of Cable Distribution Frames and Location Cases.

Maintenance of Fixed Plant associated with Equipment Rooms, such as Lighting, Power supplies and distribution boards, air conditioning and fire alarms etc are to be undertaken in accordance with NR/L3/ELP/27241 Fixed Plant Work Instructions.

Purpose

This instruction defines the requirements and responsibilities of maintainers entering or working in Telecoms equipment rooms.
