Diese Norm gilt für Hersteller- oder Lieferantenangaben faseroptischer Produkte zur Bild- und Datenübertragung (Strecken bis 100 m) und Leitung von Licht sowie optischer Strahlung aus dem nahen infraroten und ultravioletten Spektralbereich.
Sie gilt nicht für faseroptische Produkte, die zur Nachrichten- und Datenübertragung über Strecken > 100 m vorgesehen sind.
Zweck dieser Norm ist die Festlegung einheitlicher Datenblattangaben zur Beschreibung von Lichtleitkabeln.
