This standard shall apply to all cable bracket runs provided for the support of signalling, communications or low voltage power cables, whether mounted on posts, walls, tunnel segments, cable bridges or other structures to include inverts. It shall also apply to troughing runs, to cable strap supports ('ballata' straps) on bridges and other structures, and to access stiles. It does not cover the maintenance of the air main - refer to engineering standard E7155.

Workshop overhaul and factory preparation of moulded cables (for points, trainstop and track crossing purposes) are not covered by this standard.

The primary user of this standard is the Asset Steward.

This standard supersedes E7163 A2, which is withdrawn.

Purpose

This standard defines the minimum maintenance requirements for cable runs installed on London Underground.
