This Network Rail module specifies how an applicant:
a) introduces new or changed vehicles onto the network;
b) changes the routes where existing vehicles operate.
It applies to applications from within Network Rail and external parties.
It does not include vehicles operating only in possessions.
Purpose
New or changed vehicles, or changes to routes where existing vehicles operate, have to be assessed for:
a) compatibility between the infrastructure and the vehicle;
b) technical requirements (Network Rail projects only).
This module sets out the processes to be followed by an applicant to achieve these requirements. The module supports GE/RT8270 Assessment of Compatibility of Rolling Stock and Infrastructure.
This module is part of a suite of processes governed by Network Rail Acceptance Panel (NRAP) to reduce the risk of projects, products or vehicles being brought into service without appropriate review.
