This standard covers ductile iron gate valves with flanged ends, in sizes NPS 1 ½ through 24, corresponding to nominal pipe sizes in ANSI B36.10.

This standard covers valves in Classes 150 and 300, as specified in ANSI B16.42.

The vales covered are the outside screw-and-yoke (OS&Y) type, with a rising stem, nonrising hand wheel, bolted bonnet, and various types of gates (see API Standard 600, 2.3).
