Diese Norm gilt für die Prüfung von Siegelungen von Verpackungen aus flexiblen Packstoffen, z. B. aus Kunststoff, Verbundmaterialien sowie für lackierte und bedruckte Aluminiumfolien und Papiere, wobei die Siegelschicht ein Kunststoff, Siegellack oder ein Kaltsiegelstoff sein kann. Die Herstellung der Siegelnähte kann entweder auf einem Laborsiegelgerät oder auf einer Verpackungsmaschine erfolgen.
