This Standard specifies the main terms and definitions related to assistive products for persons and children with disabilites, elderly persons, and home-care patients. However, this Standard excludes the terms related to prosthetics and orthotics specified in JIS T 0101.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 9999:2007 Assistive products for persons with disability Classification and terminology (MOD)

In addition, symbols, which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
