Organization: JSA
Publication Date: 29 July 2011
Status: inactive
Page Count: 61
ICS Code (Electroacoustics): 17.140.50
ICS Code (Diagnostic equipment): 11.040.55
scope:

This Standard specifies general requirements for audiometers and particular requirements for pure-tone audiometers designed for use in determining hearing threshold levels, in comparison with standard reference threshold levels by means of psychoacoustic test methods.

The object of this Standard is to ensure:

a) that tests of hearing particularly threshold, in the frequency range 125 Hz to 8 000 Hz on a given human ear performed with different audiometers which comply with this Standard using methods described in ISO 8253-1 and ISO 6189 shall give substantially the same results;

Note 1 "Substantially the same results" indicate that the obtained results are the same except for the deviation of the calibrated value within the tolerance range, deviation of the acoustic (mechanical) characteristics of the subject's ears (mastoid prominence), and deviation due to the accuracy of the subject's response.

b) that the results obtained represent a valid comparison between the hearing of the ear tested and the reference threshold of hearing;

c) that audiometers are classified according to the range of test signals they generate, according to the mode of operation or according to the complexity of the range of auditory functions (e.g. for diagnosis, selection, etc.) they test.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

IEC 60645-1:2001 Electroacoustics-Audiological equipment_Part 1: Pure-tone audiometers (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.

JIS T 1201-1:2000 may be applied until July 28 in 2014.
