scope:
This Code prescribes m1mmum requirements {or the design, materials, construction, assembly, inspection, and resting of piping transporting liquid petroleum such as crude oil, condensate, natural gasoline, natural gas liquids liquefied petroleum gas, and liquid petrol products between producers lease facilities, tank farms, natural gas processing plants, re fineries, stations, terminals, and other delivery and receiving points.
Piping consists of pipe, flanges, bolting, gaskets, valves, relief devices, fittings, and the pressure containing parts of other piping components. It also includes hangers and supports, and ocher equipment items necessary co prevent overstressing the pressure containing pares. It does not include support structures such as frames o{ buildings, stanchions, or foundations, or any equipment such as defined in 400.1. 2(b).
Also included within the Scope of this Code are:
(a) Primary and associated auxiliary liquid petroleum piping at pipe line terminals, tank farms, pump stations, pressure reducing stations, and metering stations, including scraper traps, strainers, and prover loops.
(b) Storage and working tanks, including pipe type storage fabricated from pipe and fit rings, and piping interconnecting these facilities.
(c) Liquid petroleum piping located on property which has been set aside for such piping within petroleum refinery, natural gasoline, gas processing, and bulk plants.
(d) Those aspects of operation and maintenance of liquid petroleum transportation piping systems relating to the safety and protection of the public property, and the piping systems.
(e) It IS not Intended that this Code be applied retroactively to existing installations insofar as design, fabrication, installation, established operating pressure, and testing are concemed. It is intended, however, that the provisions of this Code shall be applicable to the up rating of existing installations.
