Diese Norm gilt zusammen mit E DIN 16917-2 für Rohre aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen mit profilierten Wandungen und glatten Rohrinnenflächen aus den Werkstoffen Polyethylen (PE 80, PE 100 und PE-HD), Polypropylen (PP), Homo- und Copolymerisaten und weichmacherfreiem Polyvinylchlorid (PVC-U), mit einem Nenndurchmesser größer als 1 200 mm, die für den Erdeinbau bestimmt sind. Sie gilt auch für aus diesen Rohren hergestellte Formstücke.
DieseNorm enthält allgemeine Anforderungen und Leistungsmerkmale für Großrohre und Formstücke aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen mit profilierter Wandung und glatter Rohrinnenfläche für erdverlegte Anwendungen.
