GMNA - GM6039M
Sealing Compound Coating for Screws

scope:
This specification covers the performance requirements of a thermoplastic or wax compound type coating for sheet metal screws, which function as a water-seal between the screw and the hole into which it is driven.
Note: The temperature at which this coating is normally applied and cured has a slightly deleterious effect on certain screw finishes. Chromate treated zinc, for instance, normally develops white corrosion products at an earlier stage in the salt spray test, but its resistance to red rust is not affected significantly.
