This specification relates to three grades of polyvinyl formal for use in contact with cast double base propellants. For some applications Grades 2A and 2B may be found to be interchangeable.

The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Director, Explosives Research and Development Establishment, Waltham Abbey, Essex.
