scope:

PURPOSE

This Marshall Work Instruction (MWI) establishes the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Personnel Certification Program. It describes the process and contains the requirements for safety and skills certifications issued by MSFC. For personnel training/qualification which does not require certifications, reference Marshall Procedural Requirements (MPR) 3410.1, "Training."

APPLICABILITY

This MWI applies to all MSFC civil service and contractor personnel performing the potentially hazardous operations identified in Appendix A, and to MSFC civil service personnel and Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate (S&MA) mission services contractor personnel who perform skills identified in Appendix C for flight and flight-associated hardware. Onsite contractor, university fellows, cooperative agreement and grant personnel shall be certified in accordance with their assigned work and contract requirements. Processes or operations that involve hazardous equipment or operations not identified herein for certification, shall be brought to the attention of S&MA by the supervisor for certification evaluation.
