This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for one type of wire and one type of cable insulated with ptfe/glass and either ptfe tape or an extruded ptfe polymer.

These wires and cables are suitable for use where the potentials between the conductor and the metal braid surrounding the conductor or between the conductor and the equipment does not exceed 400 V rms, and the frequency does not exceed 1 600 Hz.

These wires and cables are suitable for use where flexibility is of paramount importance.

These wires and cables are suitable for flexible applications at temperature down to minus 75° C.

These wires and cables do not support combustion and will withstand contamination by the fluids listed in BS G230, Table 3.

Two types are available, unscreened (Table IA) or screened (Table IB).
