This Defence Standard provides information on electrical/electronic components. Logistics requirements dictate that a minimized number of qualified standardized products are selected from the CECC/BS 9000 system. Ministry of Defence preferred ranges do not always contain the complete ranges of items covered by CECC/BS 9000 detail specitications. Reference to such specifications alone does not imply that the complete ranges are approved for Ministry of Defence use.

This Defence Standard also lists Ministry of Defence preferred products promulgated in the Defence Standard 40, 58, 59, 61, 62 and 66 series.
