This Standard contains complete general and dimensional requirements for metric series socket set screws of nominal sizes from 1.6 mm to 24 mm recognized as American National Standard. Also included are appendices covering formulas for dimensions (Appendix I), part numbering system and preferred sizes for government use (Appendix II), and thread dimensions (Appendix III).

The inclusion of dimensional data in this Standard is not intended to imply that all of the products described are stock production sizes. Consumers should consult with manufacturers concerning lists of stock production sizes.
