This Standard applies to single and multiple conductor fire alarm and signal cables for use in buildings in dry or damp locations having a nominal voltage rating of 300 V or less and a minimum temperature rating of 60°C for use in accordance with the Rules of Sections 16 and 32 of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
All constructions suitable for use as fire alarm and signal cable are not included in this Standard, since requirements are provided in other CSA Standards.
Examples of such constructions are
C22.2 No. 124, Mineral Insulated Cable;
C22.2 No. 123, Aluminum Sheathed Cable;
C22.2 No. 51, Armoured Cable.
Type designations for constructions covered by this Standard are made up of the letters FAS followed by the temperature rating for constructions rated in excess of 60°C as shown:
FAS
FAS 90
FAS 105
FAS 200.
