STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR FREE-MACHINING STAINLESS AND HEAT- RESISTING STEEL BARS, HOT-ROLLED OR COLD-FINISHED
|Publication Date:||26 September 1980|
|ICS Code (Steel bars and rods):||77.140.60|
This specification covers hot-finished or cold-finished bars, except bars for forging.2 It includes rounds, squares, and hexagons in the more commonly used types of stainless and heat-resisting free-machining steels designed especially for optimum machinability and for general corrosion and high-temperature service. Stainless and heat-resisting steel bars other than the free-machining types are covered in a separate specification.3
The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard.
2 For bars for reforging, see ASTM Specification A 314, for Stainless and Heat-Resisting Steel Billets and Bars for Forging, which appears in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Part 5.
3 For bars other than those of the free-machining type, see ASTM Specification A 276, for Stainless and Heat-Resisting Steel Bars and Shapes, which appears in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Part 5.
