SCOPE & APPLICABILITY

This AJP describes the procedures and responsibilities required for HNS between the HN, NATO formations and SN(s). HNSAs are developed with reference to existing Status of Forces Agreements (SOFA(s)) or other relevant agreements.

The HNS process contributes to the logistics function within the Force and Operational Planning Process of NATO. The guidance provided in this document is equally applicable to Article 5 operations and non-Article 5 Crisis Response Operations (CRO), and addresses the establishment of HNSAs for support of all operations or exercises.

This document is applicable to NATO operations including those conducted in cooperation with other international organisations such as the United Nations (UN), the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Union (EU). It is also applicable for non-NATO nations participating in NATO-led operations.
