Introduction

This chapter defines the procedures and requirements for the preparation of Service technical publications under contractor subcontract.

Requirements for specific Services and types of Service materiel are given in Tables 1 to 8.

The term 'publications material' (not to be confused with materiel) is used throughout to denote draft text or illustrations; reproducible (camera-ready) copy; final printed pages; microfiche as applicable. The term also embraces any form of electronic information storage, delivery, transmission or retrieval medium used for the communication of technical information as may be specified for a particular project, the delivery of which is required by the relevant contract.

The Ministry of Defence project manager (MODPM) has ultimate responsibility for the procurement of Service technical publications to support the related materiel procured under contract, but this activity is normally delegated to specialist publications branches referred to in this chapter as publications authorities (PA).
