Introduction

This chapter defines the procedures and requirements for the preparation of Service technical publications under contract or subcontract.

Requirements for specific Services and types of Service materiel are given in Tables 1 to 9.

The term 'publications material' (not to be confused with materiel) is used throughout to denote draft text or illustrations, reproducible (camera-ready) copy or final printed pages or microfiche as applicable. The term may also be used to cover computer software.

The Procurement Executive, Ministry of Defence Project Manager (MOD(PE)PM) has ultimate responsibility for the procurement of Service technical publications to support the related materiel procured under contract, but this activity is normally delegated to specialist publications branches referred to in this chapter as Publications Authorities (PA).
