scope:
This specification covers the general requirements for hermetically sealed (see 3.11) and nonhermetically sealed networks (see 3.11.1). These networks consist entirely of fixed, film resistors. They are primarily intended for use in surface mount applications where space is a major concern. Resistors covered by this specification will have life failure rates ranging from 1 percent to 0.001 percent per 1,000 hours (see 1.2.1.7). These failure rates are established at a 60-percent confidence level on the basis of life tests. The failure rates, identified by the appropriate symbol, is referred to operation at full rated voltage and rated temperature, with a permissible change in resistance as specified in 3.24.2 as the criteria for failure. A part per million (PPM) quality system is used for documenting and reporting the average outgoing quality of resistors supplied to this specification. Statistical process control (SPC) techniques are required in the manufacturing process to minimize variation in production of resistors supplied to the requirements of this specification.
intended Use:
Networks described herein are intended to be used in surface mounting applications.
