This handbook covers all parts of the track structure, both plain line and junctionwork, as well as lubricators, conductor rail, fencing, cleaning, speed restriction signs, structures, tunnel walkways and obstructions.

Purpose

The purpose of this handbook is to describe the critical aspects which need to be addressed when the track condition is approaching or has reached an unacceptable level. Addressing those aspects is in terms of:

• the intervention point at which minimum actions should be taken
• the action to be taken
• the time in which the actions should be taken
• the speed restrictions required to protect traffic.
