This standard applies to Submarine structure, systems and equipment for which In-service Submarines is the Duty Holder. It does not apply to Strategic Weapons System or Strategic Weapon Support Systems. Tactical Weapons, Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (primary), Trafalgar, Vanguard and Astute procedures are also included where there is a substantial difference in approach. These will be identified by separate headings.
This standard defines the requirements for maintaining the configuration baseline (ship fit definition, SFD) for those platforms maintained on the MOD's in-service Master Record Database, known as the Submarine Definition Database (SDD).
This standard does not detail all policies or processes that are in place for ensuring effective CM for in-service nuclear submarines. Where such activities are contained in other documents, the appropriate details are included.
This standard also details certain requirements necessary to support Nuclear Authorisation and in particular Authorisation Condition Compliance Contribution Statement (ACCS) Nº 16 - Site Plans Designs and Specifications.
(26.6) Although not a requirement of Defence Standard 05-57 or this Defence Standard, Astute Class Submarines product data requirements have been produced against Defence Standard 00-60. Data supplied for this class does not always conform to existing requirements and so some alterations to inservice tools and applications are necessary. This Standard has been superseded by Defence Standard 00- 600 however this standard is not expected to be applied to Astute Class.
