This Standard Practice establishes requirements for copper-nickel socket-welding, fittings and unions, from Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) 1/4 through 12, (or as noted), for use with pipe manufactured to one of the following standards:
• MIL-T-16420K
• ASTM B466
• ASTM B467
Fitting types include long-radius elbows, short-radius elbows, 45° elbows, tees, reducing tees, long-turn single-sweep tees, long-turn double-sweep tees, crosses, 45° Y-laterals, couplings, reducing couplings, caps, pipe returns, inserts, adapters, plugs, and unions.
Fittings manufactured in accordance to this Standard Practice may be produced from castings, forgings, bar, pipe, tube, or plate by forming, machining, or a combination of the two.
Fittings manufactured in accordance to this Standard Practice may be produced with one or more NPT threaded-end configurations that properly adapt to threaded pipe or the piping component.
