VDI 2263 BLATT 3

Dust fires and dust explosions; hazards, assessment, protective measures; pressure-shock-resistant vessels and apparatus; calculation, construction and tests

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 May 1990
Status: active
Page Count: 12
ICS Code (Explosion protection): 13.230
scope:

This Guideline is to be applied for vessels and apparatus which may contain explosible fuel/air mixtures and in which the occurrence of an ignition source cannot be ruled out.

Explosion pressure shock-resistant vessels are not subject to the pressure vessel ordinance [1] because the explosion pressure is not identical with the maxi¬ mum allowable working pressure.

If the vessels are covered by codes like the pressure vessel ordinance because of their design or Operation then this Guideline has additional validity.

It must be mentioned that different rules may apply for explosion pressure shock-resistance in other ap¬ plications (e.g., VbF regulation for the handling of flammable hquids) and under other hazardous mate¬ rials regulations.

An "explosion pressure shock-resistant" vessel or apparatus may be designed either for the füll explo¬ sion pressure or a reduced explosion pressure.
