scope:
The VDI 3814 series of guidelines applies to equipment, software and services for automatic open- and closed-loop control, monitoring, optimisation and operation and also to the energy-efficient and reliable operation and management of building services.
Since the international standard ISO 16484 does not cover all regional requirements, VDI 3814 takes over the task of defining the corresponding requirements for building automation and control systems which are the norm in Central Europe (exception: requirements relating to electrical safety).
The present guideline provides information about planning, operating and maintaining building automation and control systems and also using these systems for those purposes. The benefits of BACS for technical building management (TBM) will be dealt with at the same time.
