scope:
This standard applies to all rooms, or occupied areas in rooms, which are intended for use by persons on more than 30 days per year or more than two hours per day on a regular basis.
It applies to the dedicated, local air humidification by means of decentralised stand-alone devices, and to decorative water features (such as fountains, water streams, water walls) having an impact on the indoor air humidity level. Devices originally intended for private applications but used in workplaces are also subject to the requirements of this standard.
These devices pose a particular hazard potential resulting, e.g., from the supply of unfiltered, microbiologically contaminated breathing air, or from insufficient maintenance.
Fields of application falling in the scope of this standard include, e.g.:
industrial areas
offices, banks, insurance companies
shops, public venues hotels,
hospitals, nursing homes
sports facilities
public areas (such as schools, nurseries)
Private areas can also be treated on the basis of this standard.
