Hose and hose assemblies covered by this specification are intended for use as flexible connections in air or vacuum brake systems on automotive vehicles. They are to be used for applications operating in a temperature range not exceeding 200°F and not below −60°F. Type II hose is intended for, but not limited to, two different specific uses as follows:

Style A - Heavy-duty hose for service on truck-trailer combinations and similar applications. Style B - Light-duty hose-for service in conjunction with the power braking system on passenger cars and light trucks, where hose is used in a protected location.
