Der allgemeine Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm ist in DIN 27200:2011-11, Abschnitt 1 und 3.1, festgelegt.
Diese Norm legt die allgemeinen Bestimmungen für den technischen Sollzustand für Tritte, Griffe, Handstangen, Leitern, Geländer, Laufstege, Laufroste, Treppen, Signalstützen, Schilder, Seilösen und Seilhaken an Eisenbahnfahrzeugen fest. Für Eisenbahnfahrzeuge mit abweichenden Bauarten ist diese Norm sinngemäß anzuwenden.
Die bildlichen Darstellungen dieser Norm tragen beispielhaften Charakter.
