This Guidance applies to anyone who carries out or manages those that carry out 'safety critical activities' as defined by the Railway and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (as amended) (ROGS). This guidance document covers the activities of Protection Master Traffic Hours (PMTH), Protection Master Engineering Hours (PMEH), Train Master, Possession Master (Running Lines), Possession Master (Train Movements), Test Track Master, Protecting Workers on the Track-Engineering Hours (PWT-EH), Protecting Workers on the Track-Traffic Hours (PWT-TH), Protecting Workers on the Track-Train Movements (PWT-TM), Protecting Workers on the Track-Possession Worksites (PWT-PW) and Possession Controller.

Purpose

The purpose of this Guidance document is to provide supplementary information to London Underground (LU) Standards S1419 Competence for protection master (Engineering Hours) Protecting workers on the track (Engineering Hours), 1-416 Competence for possession master (train movement), 1-417 Competence for possession master, 1-418 Competence for train master, 1-420 Competence for protection master (Traffic Hours).
