This instruction applies to all nuclear weapons capable commands, activities, units, or forces, and to all commands, activities, units, or forces involved in the NWTI process.

Purpose. To issue policy for the Department of the Navy nuclear weapons technical inspection (NWTI) and for nuclear weapons readiness certification and decertification of Navy nuclear weapons capable units; and to conform with references (a) and (b). This revision incorporates changes from reference (c); defines the Navy's two types of nuclear weapons capable units; establishes Navy guidance for inspection periodicity, to include no-notice and minimal-notice inspections; and incorporates significant changes to inspection major graded areas (MGA). This instruction has been substantially revised to incorporate guidance in references (a) through (n) and should be reviewed in its entirety.
