scope:
This part of the standard applies to the classification, dimensions and tolerances of thermoplastics pipes and fittings with a profiled wall and smooth inner surface. It also contains specifications for joints.
This part of the standard applies to thermoplastics pipes with profiled walls and smooth inner surfaces made of polyethylene (PE 80, PE 100 and PE-HD), unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) and polypropylene (PP), homopolymers and copolymers, and to fittings made from these pipes.
For the purposes of this part of the standard, profiled pipes are those with profiled outer surfaces, those with a resolved cross-section, helically wound pipes and pipes with a foamed core.
NOTE 1 Fittings manufactured using a different method than that used for the associated pipework can also be used, provided the requirements for compatibility and quality are fulfilled.
NOTE 2 Pipes in accordance with this part of the standard can also be used as semi-finished products in process engineering.
Attention is drawn to the fact that for special applications there are European product standards that are to be complied with. Some of these European product standards have been included in the Bibliography for informative purposes.
