Process for Cold-Expanding New Fishbolt Holes by the Split Sleeve Method Using Fti Tooling & Consumables (aka NR/SP/TRK/050)
|Publication Date:||1 January 1996|
This specification describes the method to be used for the cold expansion of newly cut fishbolt holes in rails and cast crossings using the split sleeve process and FTI tooling and consumables. It applies to both bull-head and flat-bottomed rails in the following grades:
• BS 11 Normal Grade
• BS 11 and UIC Grade 'A''
• Heat-treated Pearlitic Grades, including head-hardened rails
• Austenitic Manganese Steel
It is to be applied to all new rails and rail assemblies, including switch & crossing rails and insulated rail joints.
It is also to be applied to fishbolt holes in single leg ends on cast crossings.
To ensure that the correct method is used for the cold expansion of fish-bolt holes using FTI tooling and consumables and thereby that the benefits of the process are realised.
