The management of safety related reports for all signalling and telecom failures for equipment and services provided by Network Rail or third parties (including bought in equipment or services).

Where Network Rail agrees to manage equipment not belonging to Network Rail or away from Network Rail infrastructure, the arrangements described in this document are to be applied to such equipment.

This process applies to Engineering and Operational staff involved in the SINCs process.

Purpose

This process enables the management of safety related failures of signalling & telecoms equipment and services on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure.

The process enables a unified national system of classification, review and management of risk.

Management control is delegated at a level appropriate to the failure severity and impact, whilst providing a review process that identifies trends and risks.

Rail Industry Standard RIS-0707-CCS is adopted in its entirety
