This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the requirements with regard to the certification procedure, the quality management system of a product, etc. peculiar to Japanese Industrial Standard (hereafter referred to as "JIS") concerning the area of steel products. The structure of this Standard is the same as that of the general guidance on a third-party certification system for products specified in JIS Q 1001 (hereinafter referred to as "general guidance on certification system"), and the matters to be special cases among the requirements specified in the said general guidance on certification system are specified in this Standard based on characteristics of the industrial products concerned.
The JISs concerning the area of steel products which is to be the object of this Standard are given in table 1.
In addition, this Standard shall be used together with JIS Q 1001.
