The information which follows outlines the criteria for tank vehicles using a standard four inch adapter for bottom loading, the standard criteria for the tank vehicle adapter and includes a dimensioned drawing of the adapter features which should be uniform to permit connection to any make of loading coupler.

PURPOSE

The objective of this recommended practice is to provide a uniform or compatible adapter and installation for bottom loading of proprietary and hired carrier tank vehicles at terminals operated by more than one supplier. Without the application of appropriate standards, widely differing practices and equipment may preclude any flexibility in bottom loading tank vehicles at different loading racks,
