This standard is applicable to the parts of Network Rail's ManagedInfrastructure which have track circuits that control and maintain theprotecting signal(s) at danger.

The standard does not include instructions for specification,approval, installation, commissioning, maintenance or day-to-day use of T-CODs.

NOTE: For the purposesof this standard where T-COD is mentioned, RC T-COD also applies.

Purpose

This standard specifies requirements to determine where a TrackOperating Device (T-COD) may be used in order to comply with the Rule Book.This updated document also contains instructions for the use and application ofRemote Controlled Track Circuit Operating Devices (RCT-COD).

The risk of not applying T-CODs in the correct area could havean adverse effect on train signalling and or track side staff protectionresulting in serious harm and / or personal injury along with significant detriment to railwayundertaking performance
